Race 5 of the LVTC summer series Pre Race

By Dale Ingleton

Hazelwood North Triathlete Paul Taylor holds a commanding lead heading into race five of the Latrobe Valley Triathlon Clubs summer series to be held at Lake Narracan on Sunday 7 March.
Taylor holds the series lead on 378 points, with Rob Sapkin in second place with 248 points and James Timmer-Arends on 200 points. Peta holds of the lead in the womens section with 300 points.
Sapkin, Timmer-Arends and Blair Turnbull are all within striking distance of Taylor and this will ensure a hotly contested race at the front of the pack. The womens section has been a bit of a non-event with Peta Mullens being the only competitor to contest the series so far. The LVTC encourages more women to get involved in racing to give Mullens some much needed competition.
The shorter distance, low-key events are perfect for people just starting out giving them the chance to give Triathlon a go. The LVTC encourages anyone just starting out to come along and see if the healthy life style of Triathlon is for them.
The Lake Narracan event will be held on Sunday 7 March, starting at 9:00am, at Lake Narracan in front of the caravan park, over a 300m swim, 18km cycle and 4km run.
